Person injured and road closed as two lorries crash on A27


A person was taken to hospital after two lorries crashed on the A27, closing the road.

Fire, police and ambulance crews were called to the incident on the westbound carriageway near Holmbush, at about 09:35 BST on Monday.

One of the lorries was reported to be leaking fuel and was secured by firefighters, according to West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.

The section of road is closed between Hove, in East Sussex, and Shoreham, in West Sussex.

West Sussex fire service said: “Upon arrival crews found one lorry leaking fuel. Firefighters made the scene safe.”

South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “One patient, whose injuries are not thought to be serious, was assessed and treated before being taken to Worthing Hospital for further checks.”

Sussex Police said no arrests had been made.
