Boy hit by car in Haywards Heath and then beaten in road, police say
A 16-year-old boy has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after being hit by a car and then assaulted by two men armed with weapons, police have said.
Sussex Police said the men left their victim at the scene after the attack on Sydney Road in Haywards Heath at about 17:40 BST on Monday.
The force said an “extensive search” for the suspects was ongoing, while forensic evidence continued to be gathered at the scene.
Witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam or CCTV footage has been asked to contact police.
Det Insp Gary Jacobs said: “This is a serious incident that has left a young man with significant injuries.
“It took place at a busy time in the town centre, with a number of witnesses and vehicles passing by.”
