Ozzy Osbourne mural painted on Brighton’s Prince Albert pub

A mural of Ozzy Osbourne has been unveiled on the side of a Brighton pub in tribute to the Black Sabbath singer.

The painting was added to the side of the Prince Albert pub and music venue in Trafalgar Street following Osbourne’s death on 22 July, aged 76.

He is the latest musician to appear on the venue’s exterior, which also has paintings of Elvis, Freddie Mercury and Bob Marley on it, as well as Banksy’s “Kissing Coppers”.

Osbourne will be laid to rest in a private ceremony on Thursday, following a public procession through Birmingham on Wednesday, attended by thousands.

Chris Taylor, one of the pub’s directors, said: “We got up to look at the wall the day after we heard he had died.

“A lot of people are looking at it and taking photos.”

Osbourne performed twice at the Brighton Dome during his career – once in 1972 with Black Sabbath as part of the Master of Reality tour and on Halloween night in 1980 as part of his solo “Blizzard of Ozz” tour.

He died just over two weeks after Black Sabbath’s farewell concert in front of 40,000 fans at Villa Park football ground in Birmingham.
